Who we are

Jaintia Hills Development Society as the social wing of Jowai Diocese was formed on the 21th February 2006, with its headquarters at Bishop’s House, Lumbihsyntu, Mihmyntdu, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. It was visualized by late Bishop Vincent Kympat, with Rev. Fr. Cleophas Malngiang as its first Director. Later on Fr. Dominic Kympat became its director. Presently Fr. Ferdinand Dkhar is guiding the organization as the Director, with Fr. Hilarius Lamare Vicar General of Jowai Diocese as the president.

Our Vision: “A self-reliant Society where love, peace, justice, equality and respect for humanity and environment reigns through the facilitation of competent organizational human resources. ”

Our Mission: “To empower the people of our region by ensuring their basic rights, establishing and promoting necessary infrastructures in collaboration with the Government and like-minded civil society organizations, creating a sense of community ownership and promoting sustainable development through monitoring and evaluating systems.”.
